
Ibrahim Zadran breaks 13 year old ODI record - Sri Lanka need 314 to level the Series
Kandy: Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran managed to set few new records in the third ODI against Sri Lanka.
Ibrahim managed to record the highest number of runs scored by a foreign player in an ODI in Sri Lanka today by scoring 162 runs. Earlier this record was held by Indian opener Gautam Gambhir.
The 150 runs he scored on February 5, 2009 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is what Ibrahim has surpassed today.
And today, Ibrahim also held the record for the highest number of runs scored at the Pallekele Stadium. 20 year Old Afganistan opener Ibrahim surpassed the record set by Dilshan in 2011 when he scored 144 runs against the Zimbabwe team.
He scored two centuries against Sri Lanka in 6 days of this series . Also, this 20-year-old batsman has today acquired the record of the highest number of runs scored by an Afghanistan player in an ODI innings.
The 162 runs scored in 138 balls were decorated with 4sixes and 15 fours. Due to the innings he built while staying at the wicket for 226 minutes, Afghanistan were able to score 313 runs by losing 8 wickets at the end of 50 overs.
