Credit for Sri Lanka's Fast Bowling Success Goes to Dimuth Karunaratne, Says Dhananjaya de Silva

South Africa : Sri Lanka Test cricket captain Dhananjaya de Silva has attributed the recent success of the team’s fast bowlers to the leadership and vision of former captain Dimuth Karunaratne.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the second Test match against South Africa, Dhananjaya emphasized the pivotal role Karunaratne played in nurturing the country’s pace attack.

The credit for what our fast bowlers are doing now should go to Dimuth,” Dhananjaya said. He elaborated that it was under Karunaratne’s leadership that the team adopted a long-term approach by consistently giving opportunities to the fast bowlers in the Test squad. This, he believes, has been instrumental in shaping the current state of Sri Lanka’s pace bowling unit.

Looking ahead to the second Test, Dhananjaya noted that the pitch for the upcoming game has more grass compared to the Durban surface used in the first Test. “This pitch has more green than the Durban pitch,” he stated.

The final playing XI for the second Test is yet to be decided, with Dhananjaya confirming that the will make a decision after the final training session. “We will take a call after assessing the conditions during our last practice,” he added.
